1961 220SEb Coupe: SOLD
This is a three owner example with only 67,000 kilometers. The car presents itself very well with near concours cosmetics. The black leather interior is in excellent condition, the chrome has no pits and is very, very nice, the brilliant silver paint is in good condition for being about 25 years old. Prior to being recently refreshed, this car took third place at the local Mercedes Benz Club of America Concours in concours class, not street class, in 2007. The car was sold new to Argentinia and sold to the second owner in the 1980s who then sold it in 2009.
Mechanically this car is in exceptional shape with recently having had in excess of $25,000 invested in a major mechanical refreshening by OWA. The car is ready for regular local and long distance use. Pictures of the mechancial work may be found here.
The front disk brakes were upgraded to remove the archaic Dunlop-Girling setup and replaced with the safer and more robust later ATE design with new calipers, rotors, pads, and wheel bearings. All timing gears, timing chain, chain guide rails and tensioner were replaced. All fuel injectors were tested and passed flawlessly. All hoses, clamps, and belts replaced. A full tune-up with all new components was performed. All steering links and steering box coupler were replaced. The clutch and all the hydraulic components were replaced. All fluids flushed. New water pump. New parking brake cables. Firewall insulation replaced. New driveshaft flexdisk and coupler. All forward driveline mounts were replaced. All brake hoses replaced. T50 brake booster refurbished by Will Samples. Period correct Becker radio with tube amplifier and "wunderbar" refurbished by Becker NA. Minor engine and engine bay detailing performed. All shifter bushings replaced. The car rides on updated 14" wheels and tires with Michelins. By no means is this a comprehensive list, but just the key points of the work performed. Over 200 hours were invested into this car by Old World Automotive. All parts used came from the Mercedes-Benz Classic Center, no inferior or aftermarket parts here, just genuine MB parts fresh from the source.This car is best suited for the collector who seeks to enjoy driving the car as much as looking at it. While not a 100 point perfect in every way example, there is not a comparable example in this price range with the same balance of exceptional mechanicals and more than respectable cosmetics. This car has been one of the pet projects of OWA. It is a non-street legal, dedicated track car.
It boasts a full roll cage, race suspension with custom made camber plates, a fuel cell with new bladder, Kirkey race seat, remote shut off, five point harness, header with race exhaust, sunroof delete with factory roof panel, and considerable weight reduction. The car comes in at ~2400 lbs and was built following the SCCA rule book. The differential is 4.08:1 and is locked. Spare wheels, tires, and other parts are included. Mechanically the car is sound, the chassis is clean, straight, and not rusted. It is ready for autocrossing and track days as it sits.

ON CONSIGNMENT: W111 cabriolet or coupe bumpers $1250 OBO
Selling on consignment a lot of w111 coupe and cabriolet bumper parts. Parts are correct for 220se or 250se coupe/cabriolet. Will also fit the 280se, but do not have the rubber strips.
We have the following parts, NOS (new old stock), and in concours ready exceptional shape, no rust, pits, dents, etc, with the parts tag still on the parts:
Both front upper bumpers (eyebrows) (111 885 55 01 and 56 01) The left rear upper bumper. (111 885 53 05)
Re-chromed:The right/front upper bumper in exceptional shape, again no rust, pits, dents, etc., (111 885 56 01)
Very good used:Both front bumper halves in very original and nice condition. No dents, pits, or rust on the chrome just some minor scratches that are hard to see. Original and correct color is still present on the inside of the bumpers. Perfect for a very nice driver, but not quite concours.
List price for all of these parts from MB would close to $6000. The owner wants these sold, so make an offer, you might get lucky. Terms are cash and carry.
